What does "BLS" stand for? BLS stands for Basic Life Support. It is the standard requirement for healthcare professionals, first responders, and students in medical programs. It covers high-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants, the use of an AED, and relief of choking.
How long is my AHA BLS Provider card valid? Your American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification is valid for two years from the month and year it was issued.
How do I claim my eCard? Once your class is completed and processed, you will receive an email from eCards@heart.org. Follow the link in the email to claim your card. If you don’t see it, check your spam folder or visit the AHA eCard Search portal.
Is there a "grace period" if my card is expired? No. The American Heart Association does not offer a grace period. If your card is expired, you must complete the full BLS Provider course to remain compliant.
Can I take the BLS course online? Yes, but only via the AHA HeartCode BLS (Blended Learning) format. You must complete the online portion (Part 1) and then schedule a Hands-On Skills Session at one of our locations to receive your official certification.
What should I wear to my skills session? Since you will be practicing CPR on manikins on the floor or at a table, we recommend comfortable, professional clothing (like scrubs or athletic wear) that allows for movement.
Does this course meet the requirements for Nursing/Medical school? Yes. Our BLS Provider course is the official AHA curriculum accepted by hospitals, clinics, and all major medical and nursing programs.
How soon will I receive my card after class? At CPR 2 GO, we prioritize fast processing. Cards are typically issued within 24 to 48 hours during the business week (Monday–Friday). Please note that classes held on Friday evenings or weekends may be processed the following Monday.
Does my employer accept American Red Cross?
Important: While American Red Cross is a nationally recognized gold standard, some healthcare facilities specifically require AHA (American Heart Association). Please double-check with your employer or school’s compliance department before registering to ensure ARC certification meets their specific requirements.
How long is my Red Cross certification valid? Most American Red Cross certifications, including CPR/AED and First Aid, are valid for two years from the date of issue.
How do I access my digital certificate? American Red Cross uses digital certificates. Once your instructor closes the class, you can find your certificate by visiting the Red Cross Certificate Search and entering your email address.
When will I receive my Red Cross card? At CPR 2 GO, we prioritize fast processing. Cards are typically issued within 24 to 48 hours during the business week (Monday–Friday). Please note that classes held on Friday evenings or weekends may be processed the following Monday.
What is the difference between "Adult/Child/Infant" and "BLS"?
Adult/Child/Infant CPR: Usually for teachers, coaches, and the general public.
BLS (Basic Life Support): This is the higher-level "Professional Rescuer" version required for Nurses, EMTs, and Doctors. Ensure you are registered for the correct level required by your job.
Can I do a "Blended Learning" course? Yes. You can complete the lecture and exam portion online through the Red Cross portal, then attend an in-person "Skills Session" at one of our hubs to finalize your certification.
Is HSI a recognized certification? Yes. HSI programs are equivalent to AHA and ARC. They conform to the latest ILCOR and AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC. They are widely accepted by OSHA, state agencies, and corporate compliance departments.
Does my employer accept HSI?
Notice: While HSI is internationally recognized and OSHA-compliant, we always recommend checking with your employer before signing up. Some hospital systems have rigid internal policies that only accept AHA. It is the student’s responsibility to verify their specific workplace requirements.
How do I access my HSI Digital Certification? Once your class is processed, you will receive an email from HSI with a link to your digital certification. You can also log in to the HSI Student Portal at any time to download or print your card.
How long does it take to get my HSI card? Standard processing time for HSI eCards is 24 to 48 hours during business days (Monday–Friday). ---
How long is my HSI certification valid? Like other major providers, HSI CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications are valid for two years from the date of the class.
What makes HSI different from AHA or Red Cross? HSI is often preferred by workplaces and industrial settings because the training is straightforward, video-driven, and highly focused on "hands-on" skill retention. It is a great option for high-volume corporate training.
